Entertaining family and friends for Thanksgiving is a wonderful experience, but it can also be stressful. Having your Hamptons home looking its best will help get you in the festive spirit and set the mood for your event. If you need a bit of advice on your Thanksgiving decor, head over to Hamptons.com to see an article by our principal designer, Shelly Linder. As a Greenwich and Hamptons interior designer, she has some great tips to help you make the most of this special day.
The article features 10 tips for creating a beautiful Thanksgiving in the Hamptons, but this is undoubtedly one of the most important: Let your home dictate your holiday decor. It may seem simple, but you’d be amazed at how many people decorate their home for the holidays in a style that is completely at odds, both thematically and visually, with their home decor style.
Use colors already present in your decor to inform your holiday decoration choices. Choose one or two colors from your home palette and add a metallic like gold, silver, or bronze to add some glamor and holiday shine. It’s also important to stick with a similar style, so if you have a casual coastal home, your holiday decor should reflect that laid-back ambiance. Combining very formal decorations with an informal home style makes for an awkward end result.
